VP Legislative Report

Dan Engsberg,

Thank you to everyone who came out and made our summer golf outing a huge success! We had just shy of 100 people and somehow managed to avoid all the rain that was in the forecast.

The Plumbing Board will hold a special, in-person (Webex/phone options) public meeting on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, in the Minnesota Room, Department of Labor and Industry, 443 Lafayette Road North, St. Paul, MN 55155.

Official notice for this meeting will be provided at a later date, but we are contacting you in advance to apprise you of the meeting’s purpose, which relates to the Board’s proposed rulemaking to adopt Chapter 15 of the 2024 Uniform Plumbing Code as part of the next Minnesota Plumbing Code.

  • At this meeting, the Plumbing Board will discuss the feedback it has already received regarding the proposed rulemaking and also provide an open forum to receive additional feedback related to the same.
  • Then, the Board will determine whether to proceed with the proposed rulemaking or pursue a different course of action, which may include reconvening the Chapter 15 ad hoc Rulemaking Committee for further exploration and modification of the proposed rules.
  • The Board encourages all interested parties and stakeholders who have already provided feedback regarding the proposed rulemaking to attend and share that feedback in a public forum.
  • If you intend to attend the meeting and share your perspective on the proposed rulemaking, please reach out to Board counsel Ken McGurran at [email protected]. The Board may need to reasonably limit each speaker’s time to speak for the sake of ensuring that all who are interested can participate.

If you want to see updates from the board or request a future change, refer to https://www.dli.mn.gov/about-department/boards-and-councils/plumbing-board  for meeting details and the Request For Action form.

The Plumbing Board had their most recent meeting on March 17th where they began to go over the official recommendation for the new plumbing code.  The next Plumbing Board meeting is scheduled for April 21, 2026
